Paul Horsted has been photographing South Dakota’s people and places for more than 25 years. His pictures have appeared in publications such as LIFE, Reader’s Digest and USA Today, as well as in books, calendars, and advertising. He is featured regularly in South Dakota Magazine. Paul works from his home office in the Black Hills near the town of Custer, S.D.

In addition to photography, Paul often speaks to groups on the history of the Black Hills and the 1874 Black Hills “Custer” Expedition. He presents a fascinating look into the past through images taken by pioneering photographers, which he matches with his modern photos taken from the same locations.
